This past weekend was the annual Potawatomi Family Festival, or in our terms it was the summer "Pow Wow." We have been many times now, and it was good fun again to be with family.
We arrived back in Shawnee (again) late last Tuesday night. Jace was with us, and he made the trip fine and was a help just to keep us company and awake at times.
Sondra and I have relaxed and enjoyed these days. It has just been too hot and humid to enjoy being outside, though! What a treat to hear the different sounds during the day and night (crickets and grasshoppers).
Mom showed me a scrapbook she had put together with various photos of dad. Some of these pictures I don't remember seeing previously. I scanned them and have them on my hard drive now. Dad was orphaned at the age of seven in the Ozarks of Missouri, and there is very little information available about his background and lineage. He was born in 1917 and he passed away in 1975.
Mom also is putting together a scrapbook on her life after meeting dad, their courtship and marriage, with quite a few photos. I will be scanning them this week.
Yesterday, we went to church at New Beginnings with Marti and Bill. Cousin George Godfrey and his wife Pat (from Springfield, Illinois) came down for the weekend, and they went to church with us also. We all went out to the Delta Care for lunch after the worship service.
This morning, I took Mom to the doctor's office. She had an ultrasound done on a carotid artery. She goes again tomorrow morning to see her primary doctor for results. We took Jason's family out to breakfast late this morning. We are trying to see what plans to make for our days ahead for this vacation. We will be flexible and make the best of it.
More photos will be posted later.
